16/52

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013.

16/52 - The Birthday Girl

16/52 - The Brave Girl
I managed to capture Biscuit enjoying us singing to her on her birthday, I'm quite surprised she enjoyed it so much, we're not exactly tuneful!   We had to relight and sing to her several times.  Once she even prompted us at the end reminding us to clap and cheer not just to take pictures of her looking beautiful.  Cheeky Madam.

Wiggles has been practicing her new skill constantly.  If she can pull herself up on it she will.  She's so proud of herself.  We've tried a little bit of walking with Mummy's help and she thinks that's just marvellous.  She's a daredevil make no mistake, which is one of the reasons I have purposefully not chosen a picture of her little face this week.  My poor little sausage took a tumble during a trying to stand up experiment and bit into the top of her lip with her two sharp little teeth.  And believe me they're sharp!  My poor girl has a fat lip.  We loved her and kissed her and squeezed her so tightly.  No parent likes to see their baby's blood.  Just horrible.

  1. I'm not looking forward to those first few tumbles! Some days I can't wait for Eloise to walk & other days I think no, I'll push her down forever! Babies grow up & get moving so quickly!

    1. Oh don't they just?! It seems incredible that there were days when she couldn't even move just lay there and wriggle. Now she's off like a flash the minute your back is turned!!

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes! Our little ones are the same age, how lovely!! A bloody nose must have been horrible, we had another bump this evening, a bruised cheek gained trying to peep into the bath!! I can't remember my oldest getting into such scrapes ;)

  4. Belated happy birthday to your beautiful five year old, it's cruel how time flies.
So cute the littlest pulling herself up, she'll be off and racing before you know it. Eve's always got bumps and bruises on her face and legs (thankfully no teeth through her lips yet like your poor bubba!) she just charges on in, and inevitably gets a bump it sounds like you might have a little one the same.

    1. Thank you Lila, it's reassuring to know that it's not just her. My oldest girl was, and still is so cautious that nothing like that ever happened to her. Poor little wiggles is now sporting a black eye to match her fat lip! Poor little love, it breaks my heart. I suppose the fact that it doesn't slow them down is a good sign though? :)

  6. Love the birthday girl's pointy fingers! My little one seems to constantly have a bruise on her somewhere from face-planting the wooden floor/head-butting the bath/trying to eat the corner of our bed/the list goes on... Hope her lip is back to its normal size soon!x

    1. Funnily enough Helen the lip is now all better, but we have a black eye instead from - wait for it - head-butting the bath!!!!! I think it's going to be an endless list!

  7. Happiest of birthdays to your Biscuit! Five years goes so quickly doesn't it? Quick and not so quick anyways. My best friend's little boy just turned 5 this week too -- mind blowing to see the littlest of fresh baked bundles of sweetness turn into saucy, smart, independent (and how!) little persons. So cute still, but so far down the road towards bigness. It's freaky. Yeeee.

  10. Hope Biscuit had a good birthday :) She does look like she's enjoying herself.

Bless you littlest! Those bloody teeth! Little Miss had her first tooth related accident this week, so much blood and so scary!
