Currently....#25

Wow! Twenty five Currently posts?! I like that! For the Twenty fifth time I am joining in with Ot and Et and Harvesting Kale and am Currently....

Needing: Carrots, loo roll, stock cubes, cling film, milk.  I also need to find something to eat for a shared allotment lunch on Saturday and I wouldn't mind a nice watch.  Obviously needing and wanting are a little blurred in my mind.

Reading: My lovely clever Mama has submitted a resolution to the Women's Institute about carers allowance being taken away from those of retirement age, despite the fact that the continue to work as carers.  I've been proof reading her submission and helping her make the arrangements before sending it off to see if we can get it approved on a national level.  Exciting stuff.  Boo Government, boooo!

Wearing:  Warm tights and winter dresses.  In my humble opinion a girl can never have enough dresses, and it's turned mighty chilly round these parts so I feel like a need a few more.  Charity Shop scouring calls!

Picturing:  With my big girl back at school I have been mostly picturing what my little girl and I can get up to to pass the time....

So far we have toddler group, nice cups of tea with chums and several games of hide the cookies....she finds them wherever they go...

Expecting: To get the most amazing sloes when we go out picking this year.  I keep walking past the bushes and they are heavy with fruit, not time to pick it yet, need to let them fatten up a little more, but we that time comes I am expecting to be able to make buckets and buckets and buckets of amazing sloe gin.  Hoooo yeah Mumma!

Next week: Changing, Remembering, Needing, Cleaning, Feeling.

  1. Lovely picture.
I can't believe how cold it's gotten so quickly, it was lovely and warm last week, I was in vest tops and leaving the coat at home, this week it's jumpers and coats.
I wish your mum luck with her article about carers allowance, it should definitely be available to those who have reached retirement age, just because they've hit a certain age it doesn't mean they stop their caring responsibilities. I work with young carers' and think there should be something made available to those under 16 as well, they take on more responsibilities than other children their age and often miss out on social activities due to their caring role but also, as many of the young people I work with come from one parent families they struggle financially due to the parent usually unable to work because of their illness. I think it would really benefit young carers to get an allowance of some type as it would mean they would be more able to do things such as go to the cinema with a friend and get a break from their caring role.

    1. I completely agree Rebecca, this is just another area where people who really need financial support are overlooked. It's something that really needs to change.

Good luck to your mom! She sounds like an awesome woman and it's great that you're able to help her out. What an awesome example you're setting for your own little ladies!

  3. What a beautiful pic of you two ladies! Good luck to you and your mom on getting that article published, how exciting but also boo, I don't know about this issue but it sounds like an unfair situation pure and simple. And I will just wish you some ingredients (that I've never heard of) and a watch. And some gin. All the good wishes!

  5. We're planning our annual sloe walk too. I love having jars of purple gin in the cupboard. And the WI are a very effective campaigning organisation and that issue is perfect for them to take on. Good luck to your mum with that.
