Friday Treats....#7 Rings on her fingers, bells on her toes...

Due to being a little under the weather this week, my usual Friday Treats post has been a delayed. I did, however, manage to purchase a Friday Treat for Biscuit, so I thought I share it anyway. Better late than never, hey?

Friday Treat: Rings & Stick-on Earrings

Price:  £2.50 from H&M.

Reaction: Pretty chuffed! She loves the idea of having earrings to wear, as some girls in her class have had their ears pearced, and she knows she's not allowed. I didn't get my own ears pierced until I was 33! These were a happy compromise. Her favourite was the pink heart ring.

Hope you've had great weekends!

Friday Treats....#6 Definitely No Tricks

Good evening lovelies! Another Friday, another treat for Biscuit!

I enjoy Halloween, but I strongly disagree with the concept of Trick or Treating. It goes against everything I tell my children the other 364 days of the year. It's just a personal thing.

Despite that I love a good Halloween accessory and I've always been a big fan of dressing up! I'd promised Biscuit that this year she could invite her friends over to enjoy a "Spooky Tea". This would mean she still got to enjoy the fun, but safely indoors.

This week's Friday Treat is in preparation for that:

Friday Treat: Halloween Bowls, Halloween Cups, Halloween Plates, Halloween Party Bags and Halloween Party Invitations.

Price: £1 each, so £5 in total.

Reaction: Very, VERY, Very excited! She has taken everything but the invitations into her room "to keep them safe". I've been asked to promise faithfully we can write invitations out tomorrow despite a busy day ahead. She also wanted to know how any days until her party, and whether they could have green jelly with eyeballs inside. Yes, yes, you can!

Have great weekends!

Friday Treats....#5 - Cheers Big Ears!

Good evening lovelies! Had a good week? Yup, me too! Once again it's time for my Friday Treats post.

This week I'd spent too long chatting over curry when I realised I had yet to buy Biscuit's treat. A quick trip to Wilko's where they had a very useful toy sale going on soon solved that! This week lucky, lucky Biscuit was honoured to receive:

Yep, you heard me! Comedy ears! Hahaha :)

Friday Treat: Comedy Ears

Price:  Reduced from somewhere around £2 to 50p. I have to admit that I didn't look at the full price all that closely. I was too busy chuckling at COMEDY EARS!

Reaction: She thought they were pretty funny and particularly loved the idea of tricking her Daddy into thinking that her ears had just mutated. What more could a five year old want out of life?

Have great weekends!

This weeks curry was Chicken Dhansak, with spicy mixed beans. Lovely and herby, 7/10. Mmmmmm :)

Friday Treats.....#4 - Ooompah, oompah, stick it up your jumper!

Good evening lovelies! I honestly can't believe that Friday has come around again so quickly!  It only seems five minutes since last week's Friday Treats post.

This week I was trolling through the shops and found quite a bargain for lucky Miss Biscuit.  This little beauty!

Forgive the slightly rubbish photograph, I couldn't seem to get the light right, so resorted to the flash in the end.  It's been a long day!!

I wouldn't normally choose something so big for a Friday treat, but it is really lovely and quite a bargain, so I thought, what the hey!

Friday Treat: A gorgeously soft stripey jumper from Gap Kids

Price:  Originally £17.95, reduced to £6.99

Reaction: Very, very chuffed.  She has style that girl!  I was met with:
"Can I put it on now Mummy?  Over my pyjamas?  To sleep in?"
"Erm, no.  But you can put it on tomorrow"
"Hmph!"

I think that's a pretty good reaction!

Have great weekends!

Friday Treats....#3 - Bananas

Good evening lovelies!

Friday, Friday, Friday!

Friday Treat: Bananas in Pyjamas Activity Pad

Price:  £1

Reaction: Initially she was a bit confused about whether it was a colouring book, a reading book or a puzzle book, but once we'd explained that actually it was all three she was pretty flippin' pleased. She's quite a fan of B1 and B2 and is looking forward to colouring them in pink!

I did start to think that I was a bit mean choosing this as a treat, that it might be a bit like buying her a copy of The Puzzler (a puzzle magazine for the elderly) but she was chuffed so I am redeemed!!

Have great weekends!

Friday Treats....#2 - Pig Juice

Good evening lovelies!

Friday seemed to come around very quickly this week, and because we're here again I wanted to share Biscuit's Friday Treat with you all again. Now I did mention last week that I try and get a variety of things, so this week I went for something she wouldn't be expecting!

Friday Treat: Peppa Pig Bubblegum Flavour Toothpaste.

Price:  99p

Reaction: Surprisingly excited. Bubblegum flavour is very appealing to small people! Plus the toothpaste is pink which she was particularly pleased about, stating that it "looks like pig juice" Erm....

I've only ever had minty toothpaste, has anyone tried out different flavours before?

Have great weekends!

This weeks curry was Lamb Madras with mixed lentil daal. It was very nice, peppery rather than hot. I'd say a good 7/10.

Friday Treats.....#1 - Twizzle Sticks

I am a working Mama. I have a part time job and work two days a week, on Wednesdays and on Fridays. I have worked in the same field for seventeen years, nearly half my life! So I guess must enjoy it, right? I am lucky enough to have been allowed to work what they call "Condensed Hours" which means that I am at work for nineteen hours a week, nearly three days in standard length days, but in fact I'm only in the office for two days. This is brilliant, but it does mean that often I leave before Wiggles wakes up and she's then asleep by the time I get back home. That's tough.

Biscuit, being older, is allowed to stay up a little later when I'm at work so we can see each other when I get home. I can chat to her, find out about her day and make sure she's ok. I put her to bed, read with her and reconnect after that time apart, which makes us both happy.

I do feel a little guilty about not being there for the all the time though. I suppose that's why I got into the habit of buying Biscuit a "Friday Treat". Each week I buy her a present, just something small, to let her know that I've been thinking of her, so that she knows I love her even when I'm not with her. I try and spend just a tiny amount, £1, maybe £2. Money doesn't matter to her, she just enjoys the gift. When Wiggles gets older I'll buy her a once weekly treat too.

It's turned into a bit of a competition with myself to buy the nicest gift I can find, for the smallest amount of money.

Anyway, I thought I'd start sharing her Friday treats with you. They vary, but they're not usually the same twice. I just wanted to show that you don't have to shower your child in expensive gifts, or break the bank to make them happy.

So here goes, this weeks Friday treat is:

Friday Treat: A glitter baton!

Price:  Reduced in Wilkinson's from £2.50 to £1. Apparently it should assist with coordination and encourages active play. Winner!

Reaction: Ecstatic!

Go me! Do you buy little gifts to make your small people smile?

Have great weekends!

The other rather marvellous thing about working on a Friday is that it's Curry Friday! As described in this post. This week was a delicious Chicken Mogul, a light fragrant curry made with almonds, served with South Indian Dahl. A good 8/10! Good work Ken.
